You
Name: Call me Eris :)
Age: 28
Contacts Details: I’m on Skype. I had an AIM a long time ago... but I don’t exactly remember it. PMs are good, too.
Your Character
Name: Raven Darkholme, AKA Mystique
Age: Appears to be an older teenager. Her mutation makes the age thing a bit... interesting. (in other words... I’m having a hell of a time figuring out her exact age in X-Men First Class. Any help would be appreciated)
Played By: Jennifer Lawrence
Power: Shape-shifter. Can change her appearance and voice (the voice generally goes along with whoever she’s appearing as) at will; though maintaining any appearance other than her blonde haired “disguise” for a long length of time is difficult. Has agility above and beyond that of a regular human, though it’s largely untapped at this point in time.
History:
Raven was born different; red haired, blue skinned and yellow eyed. She never knew who her parents were, instead spending the first years of her life in an orphanage. Running away, she grew up homeless, stealing food and taking shelter where she could. Her shape-shifting abilities manifested early, and she used them to aid in her survival on the streets. That all changed when she broke into a mansion in Westchester. A young boy with a baseball bat crept down to the kitchen, and, thinking quickly, Raven used the photo on the wall as a guide for her disguise. Much to her surprise he saw through it, and didn’t react in fear or disgust when he saw her natural form.
It was then that she found herself with a place to stay, and more than that... she found herself with someone who was different, like her. A place she belonged.
Raven endeavours to keep her abilities to herself in mixed (i.e human and mutant) company. A lot of time she keeps her blonde haired disguise up, even around other mutants. She’s not opposed to using her abilities in front of other mutants, but for the time being she prefers others seeing her in her blonde haired disguise instead of her natural form. At the moment the only one who sees her in her natural form on any sort of regular basis is Charles.
Personality:
Raven is still finding herself in a lot of ways. With her mutation she is able to ‘pretend’ and appear perfectly normal... but she knows that she’s NOT. She wants to be accepted for who she is, ALL that she is... but at the same time she wants nothing more than to truly appear normal. To not have her disguise be merely a disguise. To not have to pretend to be.
Despite all this, she doesn’t dwell on it all the time. Raven enjoys having fun. She’s teasing and playful. She’s generally amiable, and tries to get along with most everyone. She does have something of a temper, but for the most part she tries to keep it under control. Surrounded by others like her (for certain degrees, of course; she’s the most... obvious of their little band at the moment) she’s much more comfortable to be herself. Personality-wise, anyway.
Her favourite cereal is honey nut cheerios.
Raven enjoys perching or sitting on things. She’d much rather sit on a table or windowsill than a chair. Unless it’s a really cushy chair; then it’s okay.
Roleplay Sample:
Raven tied the belt on her robe and slipped out of her bedroom. It was late enough that most everyone else was in bed, or else they were breaking curfew. Either way, her path to the kitchen remained free of other people, and the kitchen itself was empty. First order of business was tea. It was all Charles fault; he’s the one who had gotten her into tea in the first place.
Once the teapot was on and the water heating, she opened the fridge and pulled out mayo, lettuce, and several different varieties of sandwich meat (roast beef and ham, to be exact). She grabbed a loaf of wheat bread out of the pantry as the teapot started whistling. She tossed it on the counter next to the rest of the sandwich makings she’d already retrieved and she grabbed her mug (it was cream coloured, with blue orchids on it). After a moment’s consideration, Raven pulled the box of Earl Grey loose leaf tea out (it was definitely an Earl Grey night) and began steeping her tea. Charles had instructed her on the proper way to make tea, and she did it now without even thinking about it.
While her tea steeped she made the sandwich. Bread, mayo, lettuce, and then sandwich meat and the other slice of bread. It wasn’t that she was particular about her sandwiches... she just enjoyed occasionally being methodical about her sandwich making. She cut the completed sandwich in half (diagonally, of course), and arranged it on her plate. Her tea (properly) prepared, and sandwich freshly made, she hopped up on the counter and began nibbling at her late night snack.
